Call it as it is

I’m tired of calling these hurricanes, bad days

Pretending these nightmares aren’t flashbacks

I’m sick of calling this mask, the real me

It’s time to call it as it is:

I’m not okay

Your joke wasn’t funny

That movie wasn’t good

That lie broke my heart

Some days, I hate myself

Others, I can’t find a flaw

No, that wasn’t easy

That apology you said meant a lot to you? I didn’t mean it

When I said I forgave you, I almost choked on my lies

I wasn’t sick, I just couldn’t find the strength to see you

I’m sorry

I’m sorry reality isn’t pretty

I’m sorry

But that’s the truth
