Broken Ignorance

The silk gown wrapped tight around soft skin

Shoulders rolled back, lips painted the shade royalty

A peasant playing dress up

Diamonds paired with fantasies

Pouring expensive wine, lighting candles to mask the bitter stench

She moved with grace, precision, elegance

You’d never guess her intentions with just a glance

A wife preparing a romantic evening

An easy game

Up close the smeared mascara was clear

The tremblings hands a sign all on their own

Eyes that had seen more than enough meet a taunting clock striking nine

Hope shattered

Dutiful wife

Eating dinner alone

Wearing dark red so that when he get’s home she can convince herself those stains were made by her

Broken bliss
